It’s been an excellent season for the 2016 Mazda lineup, with the lineup garnering more than 100 automotive industry accolades. The 2016 Mazda CX-3 is adding some fuel to that fire with the most recent recognition coming out of the Northwest Automotive Press Association’s (NWAPA) Mudfest. The CX-3 earned itself the fine distinction of Northwest Outdoor Activity Vehicle of the Year, Compact Utility Vehicle. Coming in at 6.22 inches, the 2016 CX-3 had the lowest ground clearance of its competitive segment, but what it lacks in stature it makes up for in performance and capability, surprising more than one event-goer with its impressive handling and fitness in both on- and off-road testing. The title of Best Compact Utility Vehicle owes mostly to the 2016 Mazda CX-3’s predictive i-ACTIV all-wheel drive, which is able to adjust power distribution among the wheels 200 times per second, transferring power before a driver has a chance to feel the loss of traction. This gives the CX-3 superior responsiveness and performance when it comes to traction and handling.
