These days, generational redesigns of any given model tend to introduce plenty of new technology that sometimes don’t retain their usefulness in the long term. That’s why publications like MotorWeek make it a point to do extended tests of some of the latest models. Recently, they tested out the all-new 2017 Mazda CX-9.
The new CX-9 wears the latest Soul of Motion design language, all while moving up market with the latest in infotainment, convenience, and safety features. It also has an engine that might seem a bit too small for its size—a 2.5-liter turbocharged inline-four with 227 hp and 310 lb-ft of torque. But all of these new additions hold up to the CX-9’s more upscale mantra. The ample torque from the engine continues to impress for merging and passing, while returning class-leading gas mileage, and the technology remains useful and easy to use.
